Asia Server Ping Guide โ€” Singapore, Tokyo, Seoul & Mumbai

Asia is the most fragmented gaming region in the world. Four major server hubs โ€” Singapore, Tokyo, Seoul, and Mumbai โ€” serve 2 billion players across 40+ countries. Choosing the wrong hub for your location can add 100ms+ to your ping. Here is how to find the fastest path.

Where Asia Servers Are Located

Singapore โ€” The SEA Hub

Singapore is the most stable gaming server location in Southeast Asia. It hosts Valorant SEA servers, League of Legends SEA, and many battle royale games. The Singapore Exchange (SGIX) peers with all major Asian undersea cables including SEA-ME-WE 5, the Asia-Africa-Europe-1, and the Asia Submarine-cable Express. Players in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam all connect to Singapore. Local ping is 5-10ms, from Bangkok about 30-40ms, from Jakarta about 35-50ms.

Tokyo โ€” Japan & Korea Gateway

Tokyo hosts servers for Japanese games (Final Fantasy XIV, Monster Hunter, Genshin Impact), plus many global games that maintain JP clusters. Korea has its own infrastructure through Korea Internet Neutral eXchange (KINX) in Seoul, but most global games serve Korea from Tokyo with 20-30ms cross-sea latency. The Japan-US Cable (JUS) and transpacific cables land near Tokyo, making it the gateway for Asian traffic to NA-West.

Seoul & Mumbai โ€” Specialized Hubs

Seoul has the best internet infrastructure in the world. Korean MMOs like Lost Ark and PUBG run on local servers with 2-5ms ping for domestic players. But routing from outside Korea is challenging โ€” most traffic enters through the Korea Internet Exchange (KIX) which has limited international peering. Mumbai is emerging as a gaming hub for India, hosting Riot's Indian Valorant servers and many mobile battle royale games. Indian players connecting to Singapore instead of Mumbai add 50-80ms unnecessarily.

Asia ISP Routing: Subsea Cables and Peering

Subsea Cable Routes Define Your Ping

Asian internet traffic runs on undersea cables โ€” and which cable your ISP uses determines your ping. The SEA-ME-WE 5 cable connects Singapore to the Middle East and Europe. The Asia-America Gateway (AAG) connects Southeast Asia to the US West Coast. The Japan-US Cable provides the fastest Japan-to-America path. ISPs notoriously route traffic through the cheapest cable regardless of latency โ€” a booster can force traffic through the fastest cable path.

Best Boosters for Asia Servers

GearUP's Singapore node is the best choice for SEA players, achieving 28ms in our tests to Singapore-hosted games. Its strong Asian relay network covers Singapore, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Taipei. ExitLag at 33ms is close but its Asian relay coverage is thinner. WTFast at 38ms has Tokyo and Hong Kong nodes but less SEA coverage. NoPing at 42ms is the most affordable option but has the fewest Asian relay points.

Expected Ping Between Asian Hubs

Singapore to Tokyo: 60-80ms. Singapore to Seoul: 70-90ms. Singapore to Mumbai: 40-55ms. Tokyo to Seoul: 25-35ms. Mumbai to Singapore: 40-55ms. Mumbai to Tokyo: 90-120ms. The key insight: if you are in India, use Mumbai servers. If you are in SEA, use Singapore. If you are in East Asia, use Tokyo or Seoul. Cross-connecting across these regions without a booster adds significant route penalties.

Which Games Host on Asian Servers

Valorant has dedicated SEA servers in Singapore and Indian servers in Mumbai. League of Legends uses Singapore for SEA and Tokyo for Japan. CS2 uses Valve's Singapore and Tokyo infrastructure. PUBG runs on Korean servers (Seoul) and Singapore servers for SEA. Genshin Impact uses Tokyo and Singapore servers. Apex Legends uses Tokyo and Singapore. Fortnite runs on Epic's Singapore cluster for Asia. Call of Duty uses Singapore and Tokyo depending on the title. Mobile Legends and other mobile esports titles are almost exclusively hosted in Singapore. If your game does not let you choose servers, your ISP's routing determines which hub you connect to โ€” and it might not be the fastest one.

FAQ โ€” Asia Server Ping

Which Asian server hub should I use from my country?

From Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam: use Singapore. From Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong: use Tokyo. From Korea: use Seoul (local) or Tokyo (cross-border). From India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka: use Mumbai. From China: this is complicated โ€” use Hong Kong or Tokyo nodes with a booster for the best international routing. From the Middle East: use Mumbai or Bahrain servers depending on your game.

Why is my ping to Singapore so high when I am in Southeast Asia?

Your ISP is routing you through an indirect path. Many SEA ISPs route traffic through Hong Kong or even the US before reaching Singapore, adding 100-200ms of unnecessary travel. A ping booster forces your traffic through the direct SEA-ME-WE cable path, which typically cuts 50-70% off your ping to Singapore servers.

Is GearUP really the best booster for Asia?

In our tests, yes. GearUP has the widest Asian relay network covering Singapore, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Taipei, and Seoul. This gives it more routing options than any competitor in the region. ExitLag is a strong second choice for Japan/Korea-focused players. But for SEA players connecting to Singapore, GearUP's localized infrastructure consistently delivers the lowest ping.
